APPLICATION IN CONTINUOUS CASTING INDUSTRY

• There are many factors that determine the life of a continuously cast graphite mold.From the composition of the casting material, to the casting temperature, to the cooling rate, will affect the life of the graphite mold.The specific grade of graphite used is also determined by a number of factors.The main factor is the material process field to be used in the casting mold.For example, for gray cast iron or high nickel alloys, wear-resistant graphite is needed, while for brass, a relatively dense graphite with sufficient porosity to allow zinc to evaporate would be a better choice.
• Graphite molds designed for continuous casting need to take all of these factors into account and apply them to your specific application.Grade selection is the most important and should include input from foundry personnel, graphite manufacturers and machine factories specialized in processing graphite.Even so, when designing a new system, practical tests may be required before an actual graphite grade can be selected.
